We don't accept your apology.

"Sorry this is kind of off topic, but...."

"Sorry, I didn't understand..."

"Sorry, I got an epidural..."

APOLOGIZING. Women do it all the time--on social media, in the workplace, at home with their families, around their friends. For absolutely no reason! Women apologize for their opinions, their emotions, events they have no control over, the decisions the make for themselves and their families, and their appearance. And this phenomenon of apologizing is much more common in women than in men.

APOLOGIZING FOR WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN, AND THE CHOICES YOU MAKE HAS BECOME INGRAINED IN OUR CULTURE.

Here at The Chicago Doulas, we can't guarantee a lot about what your birth or postpartum will look like. We don't know how long your labor will be or when your baby will sleep through the night. We don't know if you'll decide to have an epidural or a cesarean or spend your entire labor soaking in the tub. We don't know if breastfeeding will be easy or hard or which pacifier your baby will like the best.

WHAT WE CAN GUARANTEE IS THAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO US ABOUT ANY OF IT.

In fact, if we hear you try to apologize for the choices you have made, whether based on intuition, research, or input from friends and family, we won't accept your apology.

We will give you the confidence to discover the decisions that are already within you and stand by those decisions with conviction and strength.
