Summer Sundays: Andersonville

Chicago Birth & Baby presents: Summer Sundays, a series covering our favorite family-friendly eats, activities, and events in some of Chicago's most exciting neighborhoods.

This week we're taking a look at Andersonville! Andersonville is a neighborhood on Chicago's north side that has a rich history, and lots of great things to eat, see, and do!

Here is Chicago Birth & Baby's favorite family-friendly spots.

Activities & Events

Winnemac Park

Lovely park for families and pups to explore, play, and picnic. Enjoy lush prairies/grassland, sports hubs, a playground, and the shade of the plentiful weeping willows.

Cedar Playlot Park

A small playlot that has a water feature that's perfect for tots. Be on the lookout for the Chicago Parks "Craftsmobile" that provides crafting experiences for children at this playground.

Swedish American Museum

At the Brunk Children's Museum inside of the Swedish American Museum, children and families can learn about Swedish immigration and experience the history of Sweden first hand. Admission is only $10 for families, so it's an affordable as well as educational place to visit!

Andersonville Farmer's Market

We know the Andersonville Farmer's Market is on Wednesday afternoons, but it's too good to leave off of our list. This market has it all -  local produce, eggs, and meats, baked goods, flowers, and even entertainment. It's the perfect post-nap weekday outing. Make dinner a breeze by grabbing soup from Karl's Craft Soup and a Bennison's loaf of bread. We also love visiting C&D Family Farms, Katherine Anne Confections, and Patchwork Garden Farms tents.

Clark Street in Andersonville has an abundance of fantastic shops - here are a few favorites!
